Domains and DNS Services

Domains are the heart and soul of the Web's use in integrated marketing projects. Domain Names have become the brands of the Internet -- and in many cases have become real-world brands in and of themselves.

Cyberian Frontier is committed to being a "full-service" partner to our clients and as part of that commitment we offer a complete selection of Domain Name Services. If you like, we can take care of every aspect of your valuable Domain Name -- from registering and making certain the annual fees are paid to hosting and managing your domain on Verio's Global DNS Servers. No more worrying about down-time because someone forgot to send in the annual registration fees. And no more worrying about needlessly long propagation times for DNS changes.

This is about business after all. If your Domain Name Registration or DNS info is mismanaged it could result in down-time -- lasting for potentially days. If you find Domain Name Registrations and DNS settings intimidating, we understand. And we'll be happy to manage your domains for you.

Domain Name Registrations

We offer our clients Domain Name Registrations and bundled management services for $20 per year for .com, .net, and .org domains. A complete list of prices for different domain suffixes appears below:

.Com, .Net, .Org, & .Name  =  $20/year
.Biz, .Us, & .Info  =  $24/year
.Cc, .Cn, .Eu, .La, .Jobs, & .Tv available. Contact us for a quote.

We take care of every aspect of maintaining your Domain Name Registration and we even pay the annual renewal fees for your domain. Afterwards we'll send you off an invoice for your annual renewal fees. If you like, we are only too happy to bundle your annual renewal fees onto your annual hosting invoice so that you have a convenient yearly invoice that covers all regular fees associated with your Web site.

If you would like to have your existing Domain Name Registrations managed by Cyberian Frontier contact us to learn more about transferring your domains to our care.

Domain Name Ownership

If we register or manage a domain name on your behalf it is still your domain name. It's not uncommon for ISPs and Domain Registration Agents to refuse to release a customer's domain name for all sorts of reasons. Usually domains are held as a form of leverage to force payment of disputed invoices and the like. At Cyberian Frontier we don't care for that practice at all. We promise that we will never willingly hold a client's domain name(s) hostage for any reason. Period.

We also strongly encourage you to review your domain name registrations. In the course of helping out our clients we've found many instances where a client's domain name was registered in their ISP's name in place of their own. Technically speaking -- if your firm isn't listed as the registrant you do not technically "own" the domain name. To properly secure your rights to your domain names it is absolutely imperative that you and your clients have your domain name registrations properly setup and maintained or you risk down-time or even the potential of losing the domain to someone else.

DNS Zone File Hosting

Every active domain on the Internet has to have a valid DNS server specified in the domain's registration record. The Domain Name Server (DNS) setting in your domain's registration record controls where and who hosts your domain. If you are moving from one ISP to another, you'll have to change your DNS settings in your registration record and then wait 24 to 48 hours for the change to become effective. (This waiting period is due to a phenomenon known as "propagation".)

The DNS server you specify in your domain's registration record has to be setup with what's called a "Zone File" for your domain. The Zone File is a list of all your domain's settings including the IP address of your Web site and your Mail Exchange record which tells all the mail servers on the Internet where to send Email addressed to your domain. If your DNS info isn't correct or isn't available to the rest of the world's computers then your domain is essentially "down". And because it can take 24 to 48 hours for changes to take affect you need it to be right the first time.

We've been managing DNS Zone Files for our clients for 10 years now. We have the experience one needs to know how to avoid common DNS problems and issues. More importantly, we understand how important it is for your domain to be up and properly configured and we take DNS responsibilities very seriously.

We use Verio's Global DNS System to provide a stable, business-grade solution for hosting DNS Zone Files. We're also using other DNS services as backup and failover to help insure your domain is online and reachable to your customers at all times.

Best of all, we don't charge our clients recurring fees for hosting and managing DNS Zone Files*. Often having multiple domains to work with is a strategic part of serious online marketing efforts. And while some hosting companies find it acceptable to charge $25/month or more just to host your domain's Zone File -- we don't think that's wise or even called for.

Cyberian Frontier is dedicated to supporting our client's professional marketing endeavors. Making it easy to have multiple domains is one of the many ways we've tailored our services to the unique needs of serious marketing professionals.

* There is a one-time setup fee of $20 for adding each new Zone File to our DNS servers.
