Setting your Virtual Private Server Time Zone

The default time zone on your server is set to be the same as the System Time. System time is the time zone that the operating system uses, in this case, GMT.

To check what time zone your Virtual Private Server is using, you can run the following command from a SSH or Telnet command prompt.

% virtual date

Changing Time Zones

We have created an easy to use tool to set the time zone on your Virtual Private Server. To change the local time on your server, simply connect to it via SSH or Telnet and run the following command.

% vinstall timezone

The time zone tool will prompt you to select a region from a list, then a place within that region that is in the timezone you wish to use.

After setting the time zone, you may need to restart apache and log out and then back in before you will see the new time zone.
